Winterfest in Lake Geneva is always a huge draw for kids of all ages. It never ceases to amaze those just how detailed sculptors can be with blocks of snow!
This year, Winterfest has been extended giving you more time to stay and play while enjoying the frozen works of art! Winterfest 2014 is Wednesday, January 29 – February 8th! And actually the fun starts even before that! Starting on Monday of Winterfest week, huge blocks of snow are formed at Grand Geneva and hauled over to the park area around the Riviera. Sculptors will be arriving in town, scoping out their assigned block and putting the last finishing touches on their plan. Then sun-up on Wednesday the 29th out come the chisels, saws, scoops, and tools of all sorts as the sculpting begins.
This isn’t just any snow sculpting competition, it’s the US National Championship Snow Sculpting Competition! We’re lucky to have such an incredible event right here in Southeastern Wisconsin. Sculpting will continue through Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. Then it’s shovels down and time for the judging to begin. While you’re in town watching the sculpting, you can warm up just across the street with a hot meal from Popeyes or Scuttlebutt’s restaurants. If you’re looking for a great glass of wine and some tapas, Barrique Wine Bar is right next door to Scuttlebutt’s and offers great flavors!
Beyond the incredible snow sculptures, Lake Geneva offers a whole host of fun things to do! There’s always great shopping in downtown Lake Geneva from clothing to home decor, gift and boutique eats! You’ll find something for everyone! This year, as part of Winterfest in Lake Geneva, you’ll also find Laser Tag, Beach Party, S’ mores, Bonfire, and Human Dog Sled Races. We promise, there won’t be a single “I’m bored” coming from any of your kids on this vacation!
